The much awaited Annual Sports Day of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon for Junior School was held on Thursday 13th December 2018, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere.
The programme began with the Principal Ms. Vinutha Rounurkar welcoming the esteemed gathering ,Ms Mrinalini Ma’am, Principal Vikhe Patil Memorial School Pune, and the chief guest Ms Mridula Mahajan who has carved a niche for herself in the field of Education. The chief guest took the salute of the impressive Walk Past of the students, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band.
The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event, was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participation, which splattered on the field, a riot of hues and vibrancy of Grade 1 and 2 students who engaged themselves in the drills using dumbells and ghungroo sticks.
The students showcased their defensive skills in Karate Moves and participated in Sprint Races. The races made way for the highly awaited athletic events where competitiveness among the students soared through the roof.
The balloon bursting race organized for the parents saw an impressive participation. At the end of the day, the winners were awarded for their galore by the chief guest who departed with a clear smile on their faces and the guest emphasised on the importance of sports in a child’s life
The audience witnessed various displays symbolizing alternative sources of energy as the students displayed determination, perseverance and a great amount of effort.
Std III- X
We, at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon, being a firm believer in the benefits of balanced education would like to provide our children with the best of both worlds-be it inside the classroom or in the sports arena.
With the aim of imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to children, the Annual Sports Day for Senior School was organised at VPMS, Lohegaon on December 14 2018.
Mr Sandip Patil, SP (Pune-rural), was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony and Dr Ashok Vikhe Patil, Chairman Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation, Ms Nandini, Director of Schools’ Programme and Ms Mrinalini, Principal VPMS, Pune graced the occasion as the special guests.
The event began with the inspection of Guard of Honour. VPMSites have proved their forte and skill in the field of sports and brought to their credit accolades and achievements in various State and National Level events, taking the school’s glory to the promising heights. It was a moment of great pride and pleasure when our glorious students participated in the Torch Relay. This was followed by the Inter-House March Past, a highly competitive event where the four houses eyed for the first place.
The audience next witnessed various displays like the Flower and Number Drill depicting the ten glorious years of school and Chinese Fan Drill which were a feast to the eyes. These were followed by the Karate demonstration where students showcased their prowess in defensive and offensive techniques and the Yoga demonstration in which students displayed exemplary control over their mind and body. Next in line was an impressive display of bend, blend and extend by students in gymnastics.
The displays made way for the highly awaited athletic events where competitiveness among the students soared high and their loud cheers rend the air. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony where apart from the winners of each event, special prizes were given to three students for their exemplary performance in the field of sports- Aarav Shah for Skating, Ishika Moze for Karate and Vedant Patil for Football.
The trophy for the leading house was bagged by Ruby House and the Best Marching Contingent trophy was won by Coral House.
The day ended on a cheerful note, filled with promises
