FIELD VISIT TO NDA, PUNE

Class X

On Sunday, 26th Nov. 2017 our school had organized a field visit for the students of class X to the renowned National Defence Academy, Pune. The students were amazed to see the huge NDA Campus situated amidst the mountains. It was a proud moment for them to witness the parade by the NDA cadets on a big ground sprawling over several acres. Several schools from all over Maharashtra took the advantage of this wonderful performance there. The students felt inspired by the cadets’ devotion, discipline, uniformity in march pass. This generated in them the feeling of respect towards the nation and a desire to make career in such a noteworthy field. Students returned Loni with ignited minds.

NOV. MONTH- END REPORTS

Class : KG – Field Visit to the Fire Station

A field visit to ‘Fire Station’ was organized on 27th November for our pre-primary students at Pravaranagar to know its important role in our life. The students were accompanied by their class teachers. The tiny tots were very curious to know about different things over there as fire fighter bus, nose pipe foam etc. The supervisor Mr. Ashok Ramachandra Dahidar explained the importance of fire brigade, its colour, foam, tank and a ladder. Further, Mr. Tushar Vani and Mr. Manoj Pund guided the students about the precautions to be taken while controlling the fire. They gave a demo of extinguishing fire using helmet, gumboot moving monitor, nose pipe, delivery pipe, long monitor and foam. This field trip was very informative and knowledgeable for our students.

Class: I Rose and Daisy Story Telling Activity

To build the students’ confidence and narration skills ‘English Story Telling Activity ’ was conducted for Grade I on 30th Nov. 2017. The students came prepared with their stories as per the suggested themes like honesty, loyalty, love, kindness, punctuality etc. The In charge teacher guided the students to present the story using accent, body language and voice modulation. Each student participated with enthusiasm and displayed their talent in a creative manner. Both, the content and the presentation of the tiny tots were outstanding. The class teacher judged their performance on the basis of the criteria as body language, accent, voice modulation and overall presentation.

Class II Daisy & Rose: Cleanliness Drive Activity (Near to the Temple)

‘Cleanliness Drive Activity’ was conducted for the students of class II Daisy and Rose on 30th Nov. 2017. The students of Class II Daisy & Rose visited the site of Lord Ganesha Temple to clean the premises. At first the Incharge teacher made them sit together and explained the causes of dirty surroundings and the need to clean them. She also emphasized on the necessity of discipline to keep our surroundings clean for a happy and healthy life. Inspired by this, the students participated with great energy and enthusiasm. They collected the garbage and dumped at the right place. They also separated the degradable and non- degradable garbage. The teacher finally explained the need to separate them focusing on how plastic harms the nature. The students were happy to see the work done by them. This activity inspired the students not to ugly one’s surrounding. 

Class: III Best out of Waste

To encourage students to save resources and enhance their creativity ‘Best out of Waste’ activity was conducted for the students of class III Daisy and Rose on 30th Nov, 2017. The students came prepared with required material as old newspapers, water bottles, ice- cream sticks, matchstick boxes, beads etc. The students participated with great interest and displayed their creative & aesthetic skills in designing beautiful things as flowers, flowerpots, chalk boxes, pen stand, ornaments etc. These creations of the students were judged on the basis of the criteria as thinking skills, creative skills, aesthetic skills and overall presentation.

Class IV Story Sequencing

On 30th Nov, 2017 the school conducted ‘Story Sequencing Activity’ for std. IV Daisy and Rose to enhance the thinking and critical skills of the students. In charge teacher told to the students to read the story ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit ’for 15 minutes. Further, he called each participant ahead and gave some points from the beginning, middle and the end of the story to arrange the incidents in sequence within the stipulated time of one minute. Each student showed great interest and tried to prove the best. This activity helped the students to develop their thinking and critical skills. 

Class V A Visit to Nizarneshwar Dam 

‘A visit to Nizarneshwar Dam was organised for the students of std. V Rose and Daisy on Nov. month end. The Incharge teacher told the students to observe the dam and its construction. Even students came to know how the water gets polluted because of garbage and drainage water. The students saw the steep areas and construction of dam .It helped them to understand how the water gets collected and stored in the dam for the future use. This visit helped the students to know different landscapes, dam construction and sources of water preservation. 

Class VI PPT on Health Program

To enhance the students’ knowledge of personal health & hygiene an activity based on themes like balanced diet, organ donation, cleanliness and child health was conducted on November month end for class VI. As per the given themes to each group, the students had prepared a Power Point Presentation. Each group participated enthusiastically focusing on simple and major aspects of health. Students also told about the contagious and non-contagious diseases and measures to overcome them. The information about first-aid and its need in schools, colleges, offices, houses etc. was emphasized. This activity enabled the students realize the importance of balanced diet for a healthy and happy life. The class teacher examined the PPT’s and group presentation on the basis of criteria as use of technology, coordination, presentation, content and confidence

Class: VII Origami activity

To develop students’ creative and innovative skills ‘Origami’ activity was conducted for class VII on 30th Nov. 2017. As per the instructions the students kept themselves ready with the required material. Using their creativity and innovative ideas they prepared various beautiful things like aeroplanes, butterflies, Indian national flag, birds, animals etc. Each student participated with great interest and tried to demonstrate his/her hidden talent. The Incharge teacher judged the performances on the basis of the criteria as innovative ideas, creativity, material used and overall presentation.

Class VIII : Chart Making

Chart Making Activity’ based on the theme save paper was conducted for the students of class VIII . The in charge teacher guided the students and gave them one day to think and plan. The next day students came prepared with lots of ideas and planning to perform the activity. It was a great time to observe them preparing it. The students used old newspapers, chart papers and colour paper cuttings left after craft work. They coined beautiful slogans, collected thoughtful quotes and motivating images to save paper. Some of the students wrote poems urging to save paper and others suggested tips like using both the sides of paper, leaving pages blank, promoting the use of use soft copy, pre plan for printing to reduce wastepaper. This activity helped the students understand how to save paper and reuse waste paper.

Class: IX Community Health programme

On 30th Nov. 2017 L.F.S. organized a visit to the slum area in Loni for the students of class IX to know about the commonly faced problems related to health and sanitation. The In charge teacher divided the students into four groups and told to enquire and guide them about their health problems. Students communicated with the men and women and young and old people in the slum area and understood the health problems faced by them. Students solved the queries and doubts raised by the slum people about health matters and showed them posters and pamphlets related to the diseases caused by consumption of wine, tobacco and ghutkas. This activity helped the students to understand the problems of the backward section of the society and contribute in improving their mentality for healthy and happy life.

ANNUAL CULTURAL DAY: 2017

Little Flower School celebrated its 17th Annual Cultural Day for the academic year 2016-17 on 12th Nov, 2017 in the gracious presence of the Chief Guest Dr. Ashok Vikhe Patil, Chairman of Dr. Vikhe Patil Foundation, Pune and Mrs. Nandini, the Director of Schools Programme and Joint Secretary of Dr. Vikhe Patil Foundation, Pune. The programme commenced with the lighting of lamp and welcome song. This was followed by the introduction and felicitation of the Chief Guest and the other dignitaries. The Chief Guest in his address emphasized on the role of teachers and parents in shaping the personalities and promoting a better future of the children. The tiny tots of primary section gave a visual treat to the parents and enthralled them with their dazzling performances based on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’. After an interval of fifteen minutes, began the drama ‘I am Kalam’ highlighting the life journey and the achievements of Dr. Kalam, the missile man of India. The drama students from class III to IX, with their sincere endeavour successfully took the audience through the play. The skit included dance presentation on inspiring and motivating songs like Durga Stotra, School Chale Hum,Ye Rasta Hain, Chande Tare, Itnishi Khusi, Itanasi Hashi , Jai Ho were mind blowing. Towards the end of the programme the students and the teachers of LFS paid candle tribute to Dr Kalam in a distinct manner. The school Principal Mrs. Kharde proposed vote of thanks expressing sincere gratitude towards the Hon’ble Management and the parents and appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers for putting in incessant and quality efforts in staging the play ‘I am Kalam’. This was followed by Vande Mataram which marked the end of the grand cultural event.

MUN WORKSHOP

A two day MUN workshop was organized on 17th and 18th Nov 2017 at VPMS, Pune. MUN stands for Modern United Nations, a simulation of United Nations. The main objective of the workshop was public speaking as well as to develop students’ interest towards international affairs. The workshop was optional for students of grade 8 to 10. Nine students of Little Flower School had participated in the workshop. They were accompanied by Mr. Kiran Wakole and the school Principal, Mrs. Swati Kharde. The first day of workshop emphasized on building up the students’ confidence and learning to introduce themselves. Various games were organized to enhance the student’s spontaneity. The students also had a group discussion on various topics such as United Nations Human Rights Council- Japan, United Nations Security Council -Netherland and Economic and Social Council-Kenya. On the second and last day of the workshop the students learned the skill of problem solving through activities. A MUN session was also conducted where the students represented various countries and discussed about the several international crises. The students were given the participation certificates. The workshop was a wonderful experience for the students. The students learned to appreciate politics in deeper sense and understood the problems in the real world. The workshop, in short, was a great learning experience as it made them think out of box and provided them a platform to put up their ideas very confidently.
