The most awaited day of the year, yes the class picnic…………………..
Students of STD 1 and 2 were taken to ‘CHOWKI DHANI’ a small village hamlet on 9th February 2015. This place gave an experience of village life. This place promotes the Rajasthan culture and cuisine. The students of STD 1 and 2 were taken to this place in Wagholi, few kilometers away from school. We started at 9 am in the morning. The students were extremely excited to reach the destination. All the students kept singing songs in the bus till they reached the venue.
Students were welcomed by the people by applying ’tilak’ on their foreheads. Students were amused to see a tall man standing on sticks and greeting them ‘Ram ram Saa’. After entering the gate, we all were served soft drinks followed with breakfast of idli chutney. After breakfast, we all moved to see a folk dance of Rajasthan girls. All the students joined in the fun. The next event was a magic show which all students looked forward to. The magician performed some amazing tricks which both students and teachers enjoyed a lot. The most enjoyable act was where a pigeon turns into a pair of pigeons. After the magic show students moved to see a ‘tightrope walking’ show put up by two performers. The next event was the Dj Dance. All students danced on the floor with great energy on the thumping dance numbers. Even the teachers shook a leg along with the students. After the dance we all took the students for a horse cart ride and bullock cart ride followed by a toy train ride which the students enjoyed a lot. After a tiring and fun packed morning we all headed for lunch. The dining hall, filled with the fragrance of Rajasthani food triggered our hunger and we all relished the typical Rajasthani food. Later the students were allowed to play in the park.
All the students expressed a desire to revisit the place with their friends. Some also mentioned that though they had been to this place with their family, they enjoyed coming with their friends the most. A great day for all the students and teachers as well, as it strengthened the bond between the students and their teachers.
On 6th February 2015.The students of STD III and IV went for a class picnic to Lake Wood Resort with 170 Students and 10 Teachers.
We all gathered in our school buses near Hari Ganga at 8.00 a.m. Then we moved to the resort. We reached the picnic spot at 10.00 am and we had our breakfast at 10.30 am. After that students were allowed to play and the equipments were provided by the resort. The lunch was served at 1.30 pm. Then the music was played for the students to dance and from that three best dancers were chosen from each class and given prizes. After that ice creams were served at 3.15 pm. We packed our things and started on our way back home. While returning students were served with a packet of chips, Frooti, Perk and a smile badge from the money collected. All the students reached home by 5.30 pm. Every one enjoyed and had great fun.
A Visit to Pavna Huts
A class picnic was organized for classes V to VII on 13th February 2015 and venue chosen was Pavna Huts. Pavna Huts, an awesome picnic spot is located in Pavana Nagar near Kamshet, Maharashtra.
We started early on 13th morning, a group of 144 children accompanied with six teachers mainly Mrs Priji Nair, Mrs Snigdha Dey, Mrs Remmya Parthasarthy, Mr Prakash Poojary, Mrs Punam Kumari and Shivani Hazarika. It took us two hours to reach our destination. Children in all the three buses chanted Ganesh Mantra to begin with, followed by melodious songs all the way to picnic spot. We were welcomed by Mr. Prasad Yelakar and his family, the owner of the place when we reached at 10: 30 am. After enjoying Poha in breakfast, it was time for other activities. Children of class V A & B were taken for a visit to organic farm by Mr. Yelakar while classes VI & VII went for trekking to Bedse caves which is about 2 kms from Pavna Huts.
All the children were back in the play area by 1 o’ clock. They enjoyed cricket, football and badminton which were carried by them. They also enjoyed Tug of War, Trampoline and Hanging Bridge available at the picnic spot. After the games all children danced on wrap songs in the enclosed dancing area. After dance, children were served a delicious lunch consisting of Khichdi, Choley, Gobi Alu sabji, Chappati and Halwa.
After the heavy lunch it was time to start the journey back. Mr Prakash Poojary and Mrs Punam helped in making the picnic a great success and also memorable for the children.
STUDY TOUR TO HYDERABAD
STD. VIII AND IX
The students of Std. VIII and IX of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon, went for their study tour to the historical city of Hyderabad on 5th November, 2014. It was a three days and two night trip.
The group of students started their journey on 5th November, 2014 by Hyderabad Express. The train departed from Pune Station at 4.30 p.m. We reached Hyderabad at 7.00 a.m. on 6th November, 2014.
We boarded in the ‘Hotel Kunas Residency’ near to the railway station. After getting refreshed we went to visit the famous ‘Salarjung Museum’. We spent enough time there in the museum seeing all the exhibits there. We also saw the famous clock of the museum at 11 O, clock. The exhibits of the museum had an mesmerising effect on the students and they were amazed to see them. While returning back from the museum we visited another famous historical monument of Hyderabad- The Charminar. After having our lunch we visited the Zoological Park in Hyderabad. It covers a very area were the animals are kept in a protected but open environment. The group walked around the entire park and saw different animals. Students were really very excited to see them. Some students also availed the battery operated vehicles which took them for the ride around the whole park. After the park we went so see the Golconda Fort. We saw a light and sound show there in the fort which gave us detailed information about the history of the Hyderabad and various dynasties which ruled over this city.
The next day on 7th November, 2014 we went to visit the ‘Ramoji Film City’. We enjoyed there the whole day. We had a different experience over there. We saw different shows in Ramoji Film City through which we learnt the different processes by which a film is shooted, edited and then completed in the form how we see them in the theatres. All together it was a great experience to see the place and the different sets where the Indian films are been shot. We also so the spots where some block buster hindi films have been shot like the set of Tele-serial Mahabharat, the sets of the movies like Chennai Express etc. At night we relished on the famous Hyderabadi Biryani for our dinner.
On the third day of our tour 8th November, 2014, we visited many places. In the morning we went to see the Birla Temple. There we had to climb nearly 75 to 80 steps to reach the temple which has been built up on a small hillock. The entire interior of the temple where the idol of Lord Sri Krishna and Radha is placed is built of marble stone. From this top we could have a lovely view of the Twin city of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Later we visited Hussain Sagar Lake and Lumbini Park. Some of the students enjoyed boating in the lake and went up to statue of Gautam Buddha which is built in the middle of the lake in the water. After having our lunch we visited the N.T.R. Park. Students enjoyed a lot in the N.T.R. Park playing different games. We left the N.T.R. Park nearly at 6.30 p.m. Then we left for the Secunderabad Station from where we had to board our train for our return journey. The train Secunderabad Express departed at 9.30 p.m. and we reached Pune on 9th November, 2014 at 7.00 a.m.
It was a wonderful experience where we learnt many things. The students learnt the value of sharing and caring for others during this entire trip. They learnt to become more independent and tolerant as throughout the trip they had to be along with their peers and classmates. They shared their rooms and took care of themselves as well as each other.
