The month end activity for students of Std 1 for the month of December was conducted on 22nd December 2015. Collage Making is a work of art wherein bits of different material are put together to come up with beautiful creations. To keep up with the Christmas spirit students were given a cut out of Santa which they decorated with different waste material. They used material such as bits of glitter paper, cotton etc to complete the collage. This was a wonderful activity for children where they could showcase their immense creativity, imagination and presentation skills. Each one thoroughly enjoyed the activity as they were able to put together stunning collages.
Boys brought Christmas tree and the decoration material like cotton balls, wrapped gifts, bells, Santa Claus, stickers, colorful strings etc. from home. Some of them bought the cutout of the Christmas tree and they coloured and decorated it beautifully. Some of the Christmas trees were made from waste material like newspaper, broom sticks while some drew the Christmas tree on the paper and coloured it. Children used their creative ideas to decorate the Christmas tree and the final outcome looked awesome.
The girls created colourful tiaras. Girls too brought the material to make tiara from home like paper cutout, strings, different stickers, flowers etc. Tiaras too were made from waste material and they looked beautiful.
This activity of Art helped students …
To develop cognitive skills.
Opportunities for self-expression.
Develop physical skills.
First the tub was filled with water and then a few drops of oil paint of 2-3 colours were dropped in it. The students were asked to blow on the colours to help spread them on the water and then using a paint brush it was mixed to give patterns. The students were then asked to immerse their sheets in the water for a few seconds and then the same were picked up and dried.
The students enjoyed the activity a lot and were amazed to see such wonderful colours and patterns on paper with so little efforts…indeed a fun filled activity to end the year!
