Industrial Visit to Maxion Wheels
It supplies wheels to vehicle market for 100 years since 1908. The company manufactures wheels for Light and commercial vehicles .It also provides wheels in agricultural, military and industrial field .The Company provides its products to almost all companies in India.
Mr.Nimbalkar of Maxion Wheels took the students through various processing units such as Welding, Press and Rolling of wheel manufacturing .The whole operation of Press and Rolling is carried out by Robotic operation.
Mr. Madane made a presentation and addressed various aspects about manufacturing, marketing, finance and HR.
The visit was useful as this was unique opportunity to watch closely a manufacturing system of a renowned company like Maxion Wheels.
Visit to SAPS Engineers
The SAPS Engineers is a small scale industry, started in the year 1989 with a small initiative of helping schools with few desks and benches with a very small order of 250 to 300 .By seeing the healthy response from schools, the Director Mr.Pravin Joshi made up us his mind to manufacture such furniture on large scale.
Then the company developed various kind of furniture by swapping several types of materials. Their uniqueness and novelty became their strength to be an integral part of the market.
Their production is seasonal as the demand is at its high between April and June .During this period they stay on busy with the school furniture but in off season there is demand for appliances of school kitchens. Thus SAPS Engineers focuses on academic institutes and schools for its business.
The visit was fruitful as Director of the company was enthusiastic as a mentor to advice the students about entrepreneurship. He clarified that in the evolution of any sort of business, change is only the constant. Mr. Pravin Joshi firmly believes that will power is the ultimate aspect that helps to start and sustain in market. This also worked quite well for him.
Visit to Parag Milk Foods Pvt Ltd (GOWARDHAN)
An Industrial Visit was organized for the students of MBA 1st year and 2nd year on 12th August 2015. 40 Students along with two faculty members
Parag Milk Foods Pvt. Ltd, is one of India’s largest private dairies, with an output capacity of 1,000,000 liters per day. Located in a lush green village called Manchar in Maharashtra (60 km from Pune), they pride themselves on owning the largest cow farm in India as well as Asia’s largest cheese plant.
Their product portfolio includes Skim Milk Powder, Whole Milk Powder, Ghee, Processed Cheese, Butter, Dahi, proprietary foods like Dairy Whitener and Gulab Jamun Mix powder under the brand names of “Gowardhan” and ‘Go’, all made from 100% fresh cow milk.
The students received a warm welcome from the company followed by a brief introduction about the history and the growth path of ‘Govardhan’. It was a very informative and interactive session. The students were then guided towards the Cheese plant and then also towards the sister concern of Parag Milk Foods known as Bhagyalaxmi Farms.
To top-up the hospitality of the company, they had also arranged for an in-house lunch for our students. Visiting this company gave the students a practical perspective on the world of work, and it also gave them exposure to current work practices as opposed to possibly theoretical knowledge being taught at college.
Visit to Varroc Polymers Pvt. Ltd. (VPPL – I)
An Industrial Visit was organized for the students of MBA 1st year and 2nd year on 12th September 2015. Students along with two faculty members (Prof.
Varroc is a polymer-based automobile components company which includes body parts and seat assemblies. The company was founded in 1990 India. The company operates as a subsidiary of Varroc Engineering Pvt. Ltd.
The students were briefed by the HR Manager Mr. Dhanaji Deshmukh about the company. Then they were separated into small groups and toured around the centre. Highlights of the tour included visit to paint shop, assembly and welding of two wheeler plastic / fibre accessories by ultrasonic robotic machines. The company also showcases and promotes sustainability, through the Japanese concept of Poka yoke and Kaizen. The company is also heading towards TPM (Total Productivity Management) in terms of quality, productivity and output.
The main objective behind the visit was to make students aware about how various activities related to marketing; finance, operations and human resource are carried out in a company and give them a corporate feel.
It is rightly said that “See & know’ is better than ‘read & learn’. Students have got real feel of company’s working after this visit. They got a chance to transfer their theoretical knowledge to practical implication. This will even help students to understand the subject matter clearly in their future.
