On 17th September 2013, the Dr.Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Pravara Centre for Management Research and Development organized Industrial visit to Garware Wall Ropes Limited for M.B.A first year as well as second year students .
The students were addressed by Mr. Ravindra Baviskar, Asst.General Manager, about the company profile as well as the current progressive scenario of the company. The company was established in the year 1976 by B.D. Garware in collaboration with M/s Wall industries Inc. USA. Subsequently, Cambridge University educated Mr.Ramesh Garware took over the reins of the company.
Garware Wall Ropes Limited is into major exports of the ropes all over the globe. The company is Pioneer in the manufacturing of synthetic ropes. It is spread over 14 acres and has close proximity to Mumbai. This facilitates convenient exports of finished products across the world.
The product portfolio of Garware Wall Ropes comprises of mainly Synthetic Ropes, PPMF Yarns, and Twines, SPM System, Geo textiles and Metal Gabions.
The range of the products is from 350 GSM to 1500 GSM, Thickness from 0.3mm to 1.5mm, Width: 1.37 m to 1.55 m. The ropes are of Single side or Double side coated .The rope finish consists of Mattie, Glossy and Diamond finish.
Some of the features of the products are; Waterproof, High breaking strength, UV resistant, Coating Adhesion and a Joint strength equivalent to fabric strength.
The GWRL provides solution for Fisheries, Aquaculture, Shipping and Industrial Yarn and Thread, Sports, Agriculture and Coated Fabrics.
The huge list of product standards observed by GWRL consists of ; BSEN-European standard in UK, BIS- Indian Standards, JIS- Japanese standards, EN-ISO- International Standards Organisation,CI- Cordage institute USA,OCIMF- Oil Companies International Marine Forum, ASTM- American Standards For Testing Methods, RMRS- Russian Maritime Registrar of Shipping.
The company is highly labor intensive industry. Total employees in the company are 700 out of which 50% employees are permanent. Every month one employee is honored with the Employee of the Month Award for his exceptional efforts towards excellence in job .The company has tie up with qualified Doctor. This facilitates the care in case if any emergency that arises. Training programs for employees are provided on regular basis on various skill sets and aspects operations. Performance appraisal is carried out on half yearly basis.
