Independence Day celebrations 2018

The glorious occasion of 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune, on 15th August, 2018.
A special assembly was conducted to celebrate this national festival. The assembly began with the divine prayer composed by the great pre-independence day activist, Veer Savarkar. This divine patriotic song, named ‘Ne Majisi ne’ was presented by the students of Std 6-10 which expressed Savarkar’s love for his motherland and his willingness to cross the deepest oceans to return back to his country.
This was followed by unfurling of the National flag, by Ms. Nandini, Director of School Program and Joint Secretary, Vikhe Patil Foundation, accompanied by Ms. B.Mrinalini, Principal of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune. The students then, as proud Indians, saluted the National flag and sang the National Anthem.
After the thought for the day by Master Ritaj Thakur from Std.11 A, Ms. Kalpita Tavkar from Std.12 -B enlightened the students with the journey of India’s Independence through her speech in English. This was followed by a Hinglish skit, ‘Chai pe Charcha’ ,presented by the students of Std. 6-12.The skit highlighted the importance of the freedom fighters in the independence of the country and how important it is for us to respect and remember them and their contributions.
After the skit, Master Tushar Laad from Std 11th-B, through his motivating speech in Hindi, enlightened the students about our struggle for freedom and reminded us our duties towards our country which we all as proud Indians must fulfill to ensure that our country reaches the heights of success in every field.
A patriotic group song ‘Kandho se milte hain kandhe’ was also presented by the students of Std 6-12.
The program then concluded with everyone proudly singing the National Song and distribution of sweets to the students.
