On 28th June, 2016 we celebrated Compassion Day in our school. It is celebrated on 6th of July to mark the 80th birthday of His Holiness Dalai Lama. His Holiness is a beacon of compassion, crossing boundaries such as religion, gender or culture, inspiring millions of us to have the courage to open our hearts. Compassion Day is an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate compassion in our lives. Compassion is what brings us together in unity and harmony, overcoming all forms of discrimination. It brings us joy, connection and meaning.
On this day students showed their respect to all the class four staff of the school, their driver uncles and aunties, the catering staff and all other vendors of the school those who make their life easy and comfortable. A special assembly was held on the occasion in order to express gratitude and respect to them and thank all of them for all the work they perform to make our work and life easy and comfortable.
Students of Std. IX and X sang a song to give a heartfelt thanks to all their kakas and moushis. Dyuti Anand of Std. IX recited a self composed poem to express gratitude and thankfulness on behalf of all the students. All of them were given a ‘Thank You’ card and a batch to mark the occasion.
The assembly ended with the national anthem and group photographs of all of them. The function made all of us emotional too. We also learnt and emphasised on the concept of Dignity of Labour through this. Students learnt about the importance of the community workers through this function.
