Std. I to V-Primary Section Date: 20/1/17 Day: Friday
The Annual Sports Meet for the classes Std. I to V started at 4:00 pm with the arrival of the chief guest- Mr. Neel Deshapande, Sports Consultant at IMG, Mumbai and Alumnus from VPMS, Pune. The Chief Guest was greeted and escorted by the captains of all the four houses- Coral, Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire, followed by torch march by the State and National players and march past by Std. V students. The chief guest declared the Sports Meet releasing the balloons which soared up high in the sky signifying the heights achieved by the students of VPMS in sports.
Std. I students presented ‘Pom-Pom Drill’ displaying exercises in Diya/Lamp formation and also paid homage to late ShriVitthalraoVikhePatil and late Shri BalasahebVikhe Patil. ‘Flag drill’ was beautifully displayed by Std. II students. Then students of Std. II and Std. III displayed Gymnastics tricks with great strength and agility. ‘Numero Drill’ was presented by the students of Std. II and III displaying teamwork and coordination, the drill was highly appreciated by the audience.
The students of Std. IV displayed Yoga Aasanas with good synchronization of various postures and also displayed Aerobics, thereafter. This was followed by Fun Races for girls and boys, Sprint in 50 metres, 60 metres, 80 metres and relay races. There was a special race in which parents came to participate in good numbers. The prize winners were given prizes and were applauded by the audience for their performance. Special prizes were given to the deserving students and the sports teachers were felicitated by the chief guest. The chief guest gave an inspiring speech to the students and appreciated their efforts.
Pre Primary Sports Day: Report
Sports Day for the pre – primary section was held on Friday, 20 Jan 2017.
The Chief Guest for this event was Miss Devika Vaidya, a National Level cricket player. The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest by releasing the balloons.
The event took off with a “ Walk Past “ by the Sr KG students followed by a colourful display in the formation of a fish by Jr. KG children and rhythmic Zumba by the Sr. KG
students. Children participated in fun races like “Getting ready forhockey “and dressing up Snowman race by Jr. KG and “Hawaiian race” and “Hurdle race “by Sr. KG . The parents and kaka & maushis also participated enthusiastically in the race conducted for them. The event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony. All in all, the Sports Day was a grand success.

Senior Sports Day

A healthy nation is always a wealthy nation. Therefore, it is necessary to put emphasis on sports.One can think of a healthy mind only in a healthy body. Both physical and mental well-being are the prerequisites of great achievements in man’s life.Here at VPMS sports have always been an integral part of every child’s life right from the primary classes and is an important part of the educational curriculum upholding the very motto of the school ‘Making Life Meaningful’.
The Chief Guest for the Annual Sports Meet was Major General Prithi Singh, GOC Dakshin Maharashtra Sub Area. An infantry man to the core he has extensive field and operational experience.
The guard of Honor introduced themselves and escorted the Chief Guest to the dais after which the customaryoath was administered by the Sports Captain which was followed by the Torch Relay after which, the chief guest declared the meet open.
The audience then experienced some magnificent marching by the four distinctive houses namely Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Coral. The stirring band music enchanted one and all present there. The March past was adjudged by Captain Raghunath Desai and Captain HaribaPawar.
After the welcoming of all the dignitaries the fascinating and energetic displays were showcased.The Aerobics Display was a combination of fun, spirit and energy. The children of classes VI, VII and VIII performed in this display.The children of classes VI and VII showcased their strength coupled with dance moves in the Taekwondo display which enthralled all with the foot tapping music. The gymnastics display marveled the audience with all the complicated jumps, exercises and summersaults by state and national level gymnasts.The yoga display came up next and all the children left the audience asking for more with all their complicated moves and yoga postures.
The event also included a number of races such as 100mtr, 200mtr and 80mtr races, 4×50mtr, 4×100mtr and mix relay for different categories.
In his speech the Chief Guest spoke about the importance of Sports and how it brings discipline and accomplishment to a person’s life. He appreciated the hard work of the teachers and drove home a point by saying that respecting and valuing the hard work of teachers makes us what we aim to become in life.
The wonderful torch drill displayed by the children of the middle school was truly a feast for the eyes. In the dark, all that one could see were the glimmering torch lights held by the children. They performed with zeal and got into the VPMS and outline of India formation with ease and synchrony.The Sports Meet culminated with the sports captain giving the vote of thanks after which everybody present on the ground payed homage to the country by singing the National Anthem.
