Annual Sports Day 2014
EVERYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN SPORTS is convinced of its power to improve lives. Sports have an ability to motivate, to focus, and to bring out the best in some people. It helps the sportsmen take the wider “life lessons” they learn through sports into other areas of life
The Senior School 23rd Sports meet was held on the Vikhe Patil Memorial School ground on the 7th of December 2014. The Chief guest for the day Major General Neeraj Bali along with Mrs Neetu Bali graced the occasion and awarded the prizes to the students who have excelled in various sport activities and events .The event was marked by a string of spectacular performances presented by the students which started with an impressive march past parade by the 4 houses Emerald ,Ruby , Coral and Sapphire that exhibited discipline and hardcore practice of the students. The sports captain administered the solemn oath to the students. . The Chief guest officially declared the sports meet open by releasing balloons symbolizing the vibrant hopes of the sporting students that fly high. The sports torch was carried by the State and National Players followed by colourful display of an array of drills by the students of classes 6 , 7 and 8 that kept the spectators spellbound.The most noteworthy was the breath –taking gymnastics performance , the High horse by the daredevils of VPMS . As the Sun started to rise high a series of house relays and sprint finals were held that escalated a charged atmosphere.
The speech by the Chief Guest was a source of inspiration and motivation emphasizing on the need to take the wider “life lessons” they learn through sports into other areas of life.
The prize distribution ceremony marked a day of achievement and team spirit among all who have contributed to their teams through tireless efforts to reap the achievements rewarded.
The program came to a closure with the National Anthem.
